My general research and teaching areas include behavioral pharmacology, physiological psychology, motivation, and learning. My current research includes investigating mechanisms underlying the reinforcing and aversive effects of alcohol and other drugs of abuse, and the study of drug tolerance and sensitization. Research related to this is aimed at determining which behavioral characteristics are correlated with genetically transmitted propensities to consume high or low amounts of alcohol.
