I investigate stereotyping and prejudice–particularly biases over which people have little conscious control. More specifically, I am interested in the origins of such biases, the impact of stereotypes and prejudice on members of stigmatized groups, and ways in which people can become aware of and reduce their biases.

Eva Pietri, Ph.D.

Dr. Pietri's investigates how basic processes in social cognition and attitudes influence a variety of domains that are pertinent to real world issues. One line of research addresses negative beliefs directed at women in the sciences. Another line of research explores how individuals’ general proclivities regarding the weighting of positive and negative information relate to their judgments and behaviors.
