Admission Requirements

GRE and GPA Requirements Students on the steps outside IUPUI's library

The applicant is required to take the Graduate Record Exam (GRE). The GRE scores are used in the overall evaluation process by the area to determine preparation for graduate training, but there is no minimum score required and all credentials are considered by the admissions committee. Applicants should have a minimum undergraduate grade point average of 3.2. Majors in the life sciences (psychology, biology, or chemistry) are particularly encouraged to apply. Academic preparation and performance in the life sciences (e.g., experimental psychology and behavioral neuroscience; cell and systems biology; chemistry) are given high priority in considering candidates for admission.

Additional Requirements

A strong record of undergraduate research experience is also given high priority in evaluating applicants. Three letters of recommendation are required, along with official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate coursework. Women and minorities are strongly encouraged to apply. Financial support is typically provided to all students in good standing. Applications and supporting materials should be received by January 1st for admission for the following Fall semester.
